Canadian Tourism has launched a new campaign aiming to grab interest from busy Americans in the hope to lure them up to Canada for a holiday. And to do this they’ve jumped on the twitter wagon with interesting digital storescapes or what they are calling live twitter murals, that show aggregated tweets and photos from selected search terms on twitter, the tweets are pulled live to large screens in prominent locations in New York, Chicago and L.A.
Passers by can interact with the content that is being tweeted by flicking through tweets and enlarging images on the fly through seriously big touch screens.

...a digital eyedropper for manipulating abstract, digital material

Slurp is tangible interface for manipulating abstract digital information as if it were water. Taking the form of an eyedropper, Slurp can extract (slurp up) and inject (squirt out) pointers to digital objects. They have created Slurp to explore the use of physical metaphor, feedback, and affordances in tangible interface design when working with abstract digital media types. 
Their goal is to privilege spatial relationships between devices and people while providing new physical manipulation techniques for ubiquitous computing environments.

MIT Media Labs researchers are field-testing a smartphone application and $1 plastic lens attachment system called NETRA — Near-Eye Tool for Refractive Assessment — for eye exams.

NETRA is designed for doctors in developing countries that may not otherwise have access to expensive ophthalmological equipment for eye exams.
