Let's Go 4 “MoonBots” !

-

MoonBots: A Google Lunar X PRIZE LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Challenge

A partnership between the X PRIZE Foundation, Google, LEGO MINDSTORMS, National Instruments, and 's GeekDad blog, MoonBots will require 6-member teams of both children and adults to essentially conduct Google Lunar X PRIZE missions using LEGO components.

The new contest will challenge small teams comprised of children and adults to design, program, and construct robots that perform simulated lunar missions similar to those required to win the $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE, a private race to the Moon designed to enable commercial exploration of space while engaging the global public. To further this purpose, the X PRIZE Foundation and Google have now joined forces with three other well known technology companies to offer a competition that will stimulate learning of robotics and team building while exciting students and their families about their potential roles in the new Moon race.

“We want students and their parents to understand that they can tackle difficult engineering problems and generate important new ideas regardless of their age or their background—and that they can have fun doing so. This contest is quite accessible for even very young children, but still demands creativity, intelligence, and hard work. It’s a perfect starting point for the next generation of rocket scientists!”

Let's go Konstantinos :-)

.. Eye for Ads!

-

Again and again.. technology innovation helps marketers and advertisers to create digital signs that can display targeted ads based on information they extract from examining the contours of individual human faces.

These smart signs are a powerful innovation in advertising. Cameras can estimate for example: the age or ethnicity or gender of people passing by.The system then can target an advertisement to whoever happens to be watching!

The Solution : Digital signage with facial recognition cameras!

Known as digital signage, the signs are LCD or LED TVs running commercials and other informational content with embedded tiny cameras. Facial recognition systems are computer-based security systems that are able to automatically detect and identify human faces. These systems depend on a recognition algorithm.

The first car..and the old fashion ECO car by Mercedes

-

As an allusion to the Benz Patent Motor Car from 1886

..and the new Old fashion ECO car from Mercedes! The couples state-of-the-art technologies with historical vehicle construction. The vehicle is fitted with large spoke-wheels.

With more than 150 trainees and dual education system students working for about a year on the overall concept, development, assembly, and completion of the hybrid model!

From a functional standpoint, it's a roadster fitted with a 1.2 kW hybrid drive that allows to reach a top speed of 15 mph and achieve an operating range of 217 miles. From a design standpoint truly shines, as it manages to blend the overall aura of the original Benz patent motor car.

When Twitter met Apple!

-

At the uniquely styled Twitter office, where flocks of birds are appliquéd on the walls and healthy lunches are served family style–the Mac is everywhere and Apple solutions enable creativity on a daily basis. In keeping with the casual, open office theme, Twitter’s common areas are equipped with Mac mini and iMac systems, Bluetooth keyboards and mice for presentations and demonstrations, and Apple Cinema Displays.

Among the many reasons the Twitter organization is attracted to the MacBook and MacBook Air is their low power consumption, which reflects the company’s green ethic.

At Twitter, software engineers use Mac systems running the most recent version of Mac OS X. Twitter was built using software tools which is provided as part of Mac OS X.

Software engineers, many of whom were attracted to Twitter as an employer because of its bent for the Mac, love the fact that Mac OS X is an operating system designed from the ground up for serious software development work. The MacBook Air machines they travel with are the same ones they use for software development.

Twitter design teams run site testing by flipping between Safari and Firefox, and if they want to test on Windows, they fire up a virtual machine running VMware on their Mac systems.

While Twitter employees can work on whatever computer they choose, they invariably request the Mac.

Naturally, Twitter employees collaborate using Twitter. On Fridays, people gather in the afternoon to catch up on the week via video iChat, where remotely located, free-floating talking heads on MacBook systems are hoisted to eye level around the conference table. When software engineering teams work in multiple group chats, they use a web-based group chat service for the Mac and iPhone.

Clearly, Twitter has an affinity for Apple tools, but then again, the attraction goes both ways.

When it comes to availability, iPhones accommodate peoples’ needs to work remotely and stay connected with the Twitter team.

The Mac is the same way. It offers beautiful design, simple elegance, and a system that’s incredibly flexible and powerful to use” Stone.

i wish 2 be member of Apple-Twitter!!!

A Real Nice ECO.. and Real hiTech Car!

-
When ECO..is not a concept idea!

The BlueCar! An Electric Car With Lithium-Polymer Batteries and Supercapacitors

The B0(B Zero) or BlueCar is an electric car created by Pininfarina and France's Bolloré. It looks quite promising, in good part because it isn't just a concept car and the partners say that the first units will be delivered in about a year.
It will be available in six European countries and you can put your name on the list!

A communicative car HITECH

The BLUECAR uses the most advanced technologies to foster communication between the car and its driver. The upper screen, which is highly legible and clear, shows all the key indicators concerning the car’s operation: speed, remaining range, battery charge gauge. The central touchscreen is the virtual core of the onboard computer; it provides access to all the functions linked to cabin comfort and driving enjoyment: temperature regulation, in-car audio system, GPS, breakdown assistance, hands-free telephony, driving mode (economy, sport or icy roads). All these functions are controlled intuitively via 3D images. Finally, a remote control built into a smartphone can be used to remotely check the battery charge level and pre-heat the car’s electric drive system so that it is ready to drive off immediately even if it has been left at the curb for a long time.

Technological innovation

A the heart of the BLUECAR lies its battery, the source of the car’s power but also of its outstanding driving experience thanks to the use of a unique technology. Basing itself on its know-how as the world’s leading maker of polymer films for capacitors, another energy storage component, the Bolloré Group launched a research program nearly fifteen years ago to develop a battery based on a radically new concept: Lithium Metal Polymer (L. M. P.) technology.

Produced at BatScap, a subsidiary that was set up specifically for that purpose, the L. M. P. battery provides a number of advantages: it can store five times more energy than a traditional battery weight for weight and can be recharged in a matter of hours. Its “solid-state” technology makes it safer too and its lifespan should outlast that of the car that it powers.

Last, but not least, by combining an L. M. P. battery with an array of super-capacitors, the outcome is greater power for acceleration, a longer range thanks to the recycling of braking energy, and a longer lifespan for the battery thanks to the smoothing out of sudden power drains.

I am fan for both Apple and Blackberry!.. but when i saw this Ad, i was thinking that the implicit 'negative ad' comes to technology competition. A big mistake, for ΒΒ! I want better innovative products and not this from BB!

Two is better..!

-
I mean a dual touch panel concept laptop functioning as a regular notebook with a resizeable virtual keyboard and touchpad, a multimedia hub, where both display panels form a larger display for watching a movie, or an e-book where one could hold the dual panel concept notebook just like they would a book.

ASUS is previewing an all-touch based “Community Designed PC” called the dual panel concept notebook. ASUS showed off at Germany’s CeBit. The notebook is the result of the ideas contributed from users on their Web portal.

Remind me the other two concepts of the OLPC XO 2.0

and V12’s Canova

Is my next car..a Google Car..!?

-
images © 2009 Aptera. All Rights Reserved

Way back in September of 2006, Google.org, the philanthropic part of the Internet giant, announced that it would be investing in PHEVs.

In July 2008, Google.org’s was invested in the electric vehicle maker Aptera Motors. An engineer with Google.org’s RechargeIT green car program said that Google is interested in Aptera because its vehicles go “to the extreme of high-efficiency,” and are overall “cool,” and “modern.”

And after 8 months... The result is the Aptera 2e!

images © 2009 Aptera. All Rights Reserved

The 4,000 cars already ordered are expected to be delivered in the following eighteen months, the first of which by November 2009. Following that, around 10,000 of the cars will be produced each year – increasing to 100,000 if demand continues. The Aptera ranges in price from £18,000-£28,000 depending on whether an electric, hybrid or petrol engine is specified.

"MA"iPhone like.. MyPhone

-

It looks like Microsoft is back in the game of Mobile phones with the new version of Windows Mobile 6.5, a big deal with LG and the support of the big manufacturers LG, HTC, Samsung. The new OS takes cues directly from the iPhone. It has “an improved touch-screen interface, making it easy to take action with a finger”.

Microsoft also unveiled its new My Phone service, which essentially lets you sync your messages, photos and videos, contacts to the online cloud syncing service, similar to Apple’s MobileMe service. Microsoft My Phone will also allow you to easily backup and restore your entire Windows Mobile device.

Microsoft hoping that My Phone over-the-air syncing service was going to be Mobile Me for WinMo. The My Phone service is based on technology from Mobicomp, a company Microsoft acquired last June.

The effort is good, but there is great competition with the announcements of other manufacturers for Android phones..Let's see!

Energy management helps us to be more "Green" and less "spendthrift".

Google aspires to use the power of information and technology to address the global challenges of our age: climate change, poverty and emerging disease. They was announced Google PowerMeter a prototype which will show consumers their electricity consumption in near real-time in a secure iGoogle Gadget. They think PowerMeter will offer more useful and actionable feedback than complicated monthly paper bills that provide little detail on consumption or how to save energy.
