Way back in September of 2006, Google.org, the philanthropic part of the Internet giant, announced that it would be investing in PHEVs.
In July 2008, Google.org’s was invested in the electric vehicle maker Aptera Motors. An engineer with Google.org’s RechargeIT green car program said that Google is interested in Aptera because its vehicles go “to the extreme of high-efficiency,” and are overall “cool,” and “modern.”
And after 8 months... The result is the Aptera 2e!

The 4,000 cars already ordered are expected to be delivered in the following eighteen months, the first of which by November 2009. Following that, around 10,000 of the cars will be produced each year – increasing to 100,000 if demand continues. The Aptera ranges in price from £18,000-£28,000 depending on whether an electric, hybrid or petrol engine is specified.
